The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.
Oprah Winfrey has such a poised manner in the way she describes life. This quote speaks very close to my heart, and has been one that I lived by for over ten years. Life is an adventure, and my biggest adventure, is one where I’m creating and contributing artistically. Nothing could make me feel more free.
From the time that I first began singing lessons to when I’ve graduated with a BFA in acting – give or take ten years – I’ve learnt, grown and have continually aimed to improve in my respective fields. I find that artistic endeavors have produced some of the most moving contributions to society that seem to resonate within humanity for generations, and it’s something worth working towards. Our entire society would not be what it is without the artists of this world and what a beautiful way it is to capture humanity.
Every individual has something wonderful to contribute, every experience is valid, and every person is significant; art simply celebrates the human experience and gives a deeper insight to the world of what we ultimately already know to be true.
“Do you want to be a good actor? Do something brave everyday,” said an acting coach of mine a few years ago. His argument, was that if we push ourselves beyond our comfort zones little by little, we would soon find ourselves able to not only empathize better, but also achieve bigger things. I have had many acting coaches over the years, but what he said in particular resonated with me for years, and still does. I found that by being brave, I wasn’t just becoming a better actress, but I was living more. I was choosing to be more than who I thought I could be.
